Without community, there is no liberation...
Mustang is also known as forbidden kingdom within the democratic republic of Nepal. It lies in the Northern central part of Nepal and on the top of Kali Gandaki River with its diversified Tibetan cultural influences where polyandry still practices and dead soul has different meaning here. This land said to be barren as a dead deer, where you would want to say worth it after hardship of trek. The trek to Lo-Manthang is through high altitude desert country climbing in and out of the huge sided valley of the Kali Gandaki gorge which the Kali Gandaki River runs through is the deepest in the world. This region is full of some of Nepal oldest Buddhist Monasteries, ancient and isolated villages with quaint white washed houses. The king of Lo Monthang still retains his title and he has been given the honorary rank of Colonel in the Nepal army. It allows limited visitors every year to keep and conserve the tradition and fragile environment intact.
The trek to Mustang during the Tiji festival would add as a three days long ritual known as the chasing of Demons; the most important festival in the region. The monk with fancy dress and perform mask dances do rituals to drive away evil spirits.
